Our scrapping room is located in the southern portion of the cottage which contains the majority of natural sunlight. It is also away from the sleeping areas so you can scrap the night away! Our Scrapping Room has a variety of items and tools for you to use. Some of items you will find are:

Accommodations

We want your stay to be enjoyable! Each of our guests gets their own bed with soft linens and comforter. The cottage has four bedrooms with 2 queens, 1 double and 2 twin beds. Our kitchen is newly remodeled!  The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, and refrigerator. The living room has a TV with DVD player so you can sit and watch a 'Chick Flick' as you sip some wine from one of our renowned local wineries. On a warm day you can sit on our stone patio in back and sip some coffee while you look at the season's foliage.

About Us

I have been an avid scrapbooker for well over 10 years. I find that scrapbooking is a great way to preserve treasured memories and be able to pass it down to the next generation. Being a full time career woman and mother of a toddler I found that finding the time to scrapbook was slowly becoming nonexistent. Every time I tried to start scrapbooking something or someone would interrupt me- usually always breaking my train of creativity and thought. I debated on going to scrapbooking retreats but the thought of sharing a bunk bed room with a stranger really made me uncomfortable.

That's why I started the Scenic Escapes Scrapbooking weekends. I wanted scrappers to have a place to go where they would have their own bed and not have to pay so much if they have a small group. Since the scrapping cottage is located in the city of South Haven there are many places to dine at! If you need to take a break then head on over to downtown where you will find many unique stores. Need some inspiration? Take a walk down by the lighthouse located in the South Beach of South Haven. It's a very peaceful and relaxing area that can help revive your creativity.

Restaurants

Being near a tourist town like South Haven offers our visitors a variety of different restaurants to chose from. You and your fellow scrappers can either take a break and go eat at one of the fine establishments in downtown (a short 4 blocks away) or call ahead and pick up your order at your convenience. Delivery is also available at some restaurants. We also have a fully stocked kitchen for those who'd like to cook their own meals.

Price

Our scrapbooking weekends are a flat fee- $500 for 5 scrappers. This cost includes accommodations, use of the scrapping room and our scrapbooking tools. Check in is at 1pm on Friday and Check out is 4pm Sunday. If you would like to extend your stay, each additional night is $110.

We also require a $350 security deposit which is refunded to you after your stay if no damage is found.

FAQ

Q:Why don't you have a printer onsite?

A:In order to keep our costs down and affordable to our customers we do not have an onsite printer. Ink tends to be expensive and depending on our customer's usage we would have to replenish it often. There is a Walgreens and Walmart in the area that can print your pictures for you in about an hour. Both also offer the option of uploading your pictures to their site via the internet  so you can have your pictures waiting for you.

Q:I want to extend my scrapbooking weekend, is that possible?

A:Yes! You can stay as long as you'd like for an additional $110 a night. Just let us know how long you would like to stay when you make your reservation.

Q:I actually have a group of 6, can I still rent your cottage?

A:Sure! We do have a sofa bed in the living room that your guest can sleep on. Please note though that the scrap room is set up for 5 scrappers. Your additional scrapper will have to share table space with someone else.

Q:Would our 6th guest have to pay extra?

A:No. We charge a flat fee for the scrapbooking weekends.

Q:Does your house provide towels?

A:Yes, our scrapbooking weekends include up to 5 towels.

Q:Do you have internet access?

A:Yes, we have high speed internet connection via cable modem. We also have wireless internet that you can access if you bring your laptop.

Q:How about smoking and pets.

A:Smoking is not permitted in the house, but you are welcome to smoke outside.  Pets are not permitted during scrapbooking weekends.

Q: When do you offer scrapbooking weekends?

A: We offer scrapbooking weekends from September 15 to May 15.

Q: Is your cottage only for scrapbookers?

A:No, we also welcome other crafters such as quilters, beaders, and painters.
